Bruna Azevedo
Bruna is originally from Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, and her love for partner dance and more specifically Forró, began back in 2016 when she was living in Curitiba. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion as she volunteered as an assistant (monitora) at the dance school. In 2018 Bruna moved to Dublin, Ireland, where she joined the local Forró community, contributing as part of a passionate team of volunteer teachers.
In 2020, Bruna moved to the Netherlands, where her journey with Forró grew even further. Through training and mentorships, she has had the chance to learn from teachers of several styles like Ivan Ribeiro, Felipe Abreu, Sheila Santos, Géssica Barreto, Carol Andrade, Wesley Andrade and Camila Alves. In 2021, Bruna became a key member of the Forró Den Haag community, teaching regular classes and organizing events. The following year, in 2022, she expanded her reach by offering regular classes also in Utrecht. By 2024, her teaching extended to other forró communities across the Netherlands and internationally to countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Greece.
In her classes, Bruna emphasizes a balance of technique, autonomy, musicality, and comfort. She ensures her classes are fun and engaging, empowering students to explore their own style while mastering the essentials of Forró. With experience in various teaching formats—such as regular courses, workshops, initiation classes, and private lessons for both leaders and followers—Bruna adapts her approach to meet the needs of her students. Her primary focus is on Roots style, but she enjoys weaving in elements of Forró Universitário and Forró Eletrônico to create a unique and versatile dance.
